Literary stroll on Saint-Louis Island
A vast project that began at the beginning of the 17th century, Île Saint-Louis was born from the union of two islands, Île Notre-Dame and Île aux vaches.
If today it enjoys a reputation as a peaceful village, it remains haunted by many more or less incredible stories: the escapades of the Grande Mademoiselle at the Hotel de Lauzun which also hosted the famous hashish club among its walls, Camille Claudel's last workshop before leaving for asylum, the reasons for the presence of a Polish library on the island and many others, which you will relive during this guided tour!
We will start the visit on the Marie bridge, whose name is intimately linked to the birth of the island, then we will immerse ourselves in the many writings of those who celebrated it over the centuries to finish in Square Barye, witness of the transformation of the island in the 19th century. Perhaps we will let ourselves be tempted by an ice cream at one of the most famous glaciers in Paris!
